This is a striking vase made by the Riessner, Stellmacher & Kessel Amphora Porcelain Works of Turn Teplitz Austria. The vase is made in a basketweave form with a cupid positioned at the top and on the side, looking up - their hands are immersed in a bouquet of flowers. The vase is finished in tones of cream and brown while the cupids are glazed to simulate bronze. The piece is quite large, measuring 12 3/8 in height to the top of the cupids head. It is impressed on the underside with the crowned Imperial Amphora Turn mark used between 1903 and 1918, and with Amphora, Austria and the numbers 1483 and 23. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or repairs - there is slight wear to some of the highlights, minimal and minor (see last close-up photo).
This is a wonderful piece - Riessner is considered the most important amphora maker, this is a quality display vase for someone who loves cupids!
