1980s Vintage Jean Louis Scherrer Coat Designer Duffle Style Size L

This is a vintage Jean Louis Scherrer coat made in France.  The coat is Scherrer’s version of the classic duffle coat.  It has four peg “toggle” closures, hence the name “toggle coat”.  This vintage Jean Louis Scherrer coat has padded and dropped shoulders that are decorated with a cover that has a pointed edge and the cuffs and upper back are similarly finished in points. There are buttons under the collar for a detachable hood but the hood is missing. There is a large patch pocket at either side.  This vintage Jean Louis Scherrer coat is lined across the top only and there is a slit at either bottom side.  The toggles are made of metal, the buttons impressed with the letters JLS.

Label: Jean Louis Scherrer Boutique Paris Made in France.  Scherrer started his career at Christian Dior, working alongside Yves St Laurent. In 1957, he became head designer at Louis Feraud and then started his own fashion house in 1962.

Length: 37” at the back from the neck seam

Condition:  Aside from the missing hood, this vintage Jean Louis Scherrer coat is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, soiling, staining or odour.  The metal on the toggles are either tarnished, or had been burnished and are losing the black colour - very minor issue.
