WW2 RCAF Uniform Canadian Air Force Pilot Flight Officer 427

This is an authentic WW2 RCAF uniform worn by a Canadian pilot officer of the No. 427 Squadron RCAF, now known as the 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron.  The jacket to this WW2 RCAF uniform has a pilot officer’s stripe at either cuff and the RCAF Engineer Wing patch at the left chest.  The role of the flight engineer was introduced in 1942, the year that the 427 Bomber Squadron was formed, as the new heavy bombers required a seven man crew.  The flight engineer was responsible for the mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and fuel systems of the airplane and also helped the pilot with take-off and landing. The pants to this WW2 RCAF uniform have a tailor’s label sewn onto one of the interior pockets.  It reads “M. Hebert Ltd. 404 University Tower Bldg. 660 St. Catherine St. W. Montreal M. P/O D.T. Bourke”.  The original owner’s name was Douglas T. Bourke.      

Sizing: This WW2 RCAF uniform was custom tailored, and although it should fit a small size,  please rely on the following measurements for fit:

Jacket:

Shoulders: 18” across shoulder seam-to-seam 

Sleeves: 24 1/2” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 17 1/2”

Chest: 39” around

Waist: 33” around

Overall length: 31", measured flat at the back from the neck seam

Pants:

Waist:  30”-31”

Length:  44” measured down the side seam

Leg inseam:  32 1/2”

Condition: Excellent - this WW2 RCAF uniform is really rather pristine with no wear or soiling, very well preserved.
