Vintage 1940s Velvet Evening Gown Claret Red Dress Size S

This is a striking claret red 1940s velvet evening gown. This 1940s velvet evening gown has a squared V shaped neckline with narrow collar.  The skirt is cut to taper to the hemline and is gathered at the centre waistline so that the fabric falls out in drapes towards the sides and bottom.  It has a low cut back and closes with a nylon zipper down the back - the nylon zipper is a replacement as the metal zipper was broken.

Label: The label is missing, but you can see the stitching where it had been.

Colour:  Either a maroon or claret red in darker lighting and brighter red in warm lighting

Sizing: No size is indicated on this 1940s velvet evening gown, and although it should fit a medium size, please note the following measurements for fit:

Shoulders:  19” across seam-to-seam

Sleeves:  24 1/2” from the shoulder seam

Sleeve inseam:  18”

Bust: 34”-35“

Waist: 26"

Hips: 36 " meant to fall loosely

Length: 52” from the top of the shoulder to the hemline, taken at the back

Condition:  This 1940s velvet evening gown is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining, soiling or odour.
