Vintage Unused 1960s Mens Mod Dandy Wool Jacket Carnaby Street Style Sz S M NOS

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a wonderful mod era “dandy” wool jacket / coat, dating to the late 1960s, its design influenced by Carnaby Street/King’s Road style.  This is more of an outerwear jacket than a suit jacket as the wool is thicker and meant to provide some warmth, but not meant for cold winter conditions.  The jacket is “new old stock” and still retains a number of cardboard tags and tickets.  It has a long round tipped pointy collar, open neckline, accented waist, a rounded cutaway bottom front, and a large patch pocket at either side, each with a V shaped button down flap.  The back has a deep vent down the middle, a faux belt across the waist and a 12” open vent at the bottom.  The jacket is fully lined in a two toned sharkskin type rayon fabric that is woven with angular shapes.

Cardboard label:  Stock Malco….Model SB-5…..Coat Size 38…..Price $59.95.  The cardboard tag underneath, affixed to the sleeve, reads “Custom Care 38” with MC within a shield.  There are also a few other small tickets affixed, some with only the size and some with Malco and various codes.  This was made by the Malco Clothing Mfg. Co. Ltd of Montreal

Colour:  Muted purple or eggplant.  As you can see by the extreme close-ups, the weave appears to be a mix of purplish red and black, which produces the purple tone.

Sizing: Size 38 is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit as I think that it is smaller than a typical US men’s size 38 as size is usually at least 2”-3” smaller than chest measurement (compare measurement with a similar jacket that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment into account):

Shoulders: 17 1/2” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 23” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 17”

Chest:  38” around, taken under the arms (19” from pit to pit)

Waist:  34” around

Overall length:  31”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in excellent condition with no wear, tear, soiling or staining as this jacket is unused and has been well stored over the years.

This is an original vintage mens mod dandy jacket coat, very difficult to find unused like this with its tags - nice colour, great style!
