Vintage Schiaparelli Silk Scarf Blue Squares Pattern on Black Unisex

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a vintage silk scarf signed “Schiaparelli”.  Elsa Schiaparelli, of course, was a legendary Paris fashion designer who began her design career during the 1920s.  She closed her fashion house in 1954, but continued to design accessories, this scarf being an example.  It is difficult to date precisely, but probably dates to the 1960s as Schiaparelli passed away in 1973.   It measures 50” by 11”.  The scarf is made of a lightweight silk, constructed in a “pillowcase” style, which gives it some weight.  It features a pattern comprised of squares in blue against a black background and a blue border at either end.  The ends have a “pulled” fringe.

Condition:  It is in very good condition and has just been dry cleaned.  There are two very light brownish “shadow” marks in the border where Schiaparelli is signed, visible in the photo due to lighting, but very difficult to see under normal viewing.  Typically, dry cleaners do not seem to pay attention to marks.

This is a nice quality scarf by an influential Parisian fashion designer - easy to wear by either a woman or man!
