Vintage RCMP Red Serge Canadian Mounties Dress Jacket Size S

This is a vintage RCMP red serge dress jacket. The jacket is standard issue and has no insignia, not even RCMP buttons. I’m unsure, but I would guess that this vintage RCMP red serge jacket was never used and so the buttons would be replaced and the insignia applied depending on rank etc. The collar closes with velcro, so that may be a clue as to its age. I would think that this vintage RCMP red serge jacket dates to the 1960s or 70s. It appears to be pure wool. The shoulders are squared and padded and have button down epaulets. It has a four pocket front, the top two being box pleated - all four have cutaway flaps. The sleeves have two buttons at each cuff. All buttons are faux brass plastic. This vintage RCMP red serge jacket is half lined in a pink satin and is tailored to accentuate the body silhouette.
Tailor’s label: None
Sizing: 104cm is indicated on the tailor’s label, and although this vintage RCMP red serge jacket should fit a small size (US size 34/36), please rely on the following measurements for fit, comparing them to another jacket and taking into consideration the thickness of the wool:
Shoulders: 19” across seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 25 1/2” long from the shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 18”
Chest: 40” around, taken under the arms, 20” across pit-to-pit
Overall length: 28 1/2“, taken at the back from the neck seam
Condition: This vintage vintage RCMP red serge jacket is in excellent condition with no wear, tear, staining or odour, looks like it saw no use and was well stored over the years.
I’ve read that these jackets are manufactured in Quebec and then tailor fitted to the constable / cadet. It costs about $4,500 to completely outfit an RCMP officer, including hat, holster, red serge, pants and boots, so a jacket like this is not cheap to produce.
Wonderful vintage RCMP red serge jacket in excellent condition - iconic Canadian!
