Vintage Mongolian Lamb Fur Vest Sweater 1960s Sheepskin

This is a fabulous Mongolian lamb fur or sheepskin vest sweater dating to the 1960s. The body of the piece is made of long haired fur, but it has knit wool arms affixed to it. The sleeves have leather patches affixed to the elbows. The interior is unlined and the skin is stamped “Simpson’s Supremacy”. Supremacy was a higher end private brand used by the Simpson’s department store chain of Canada, founded in 1858 and bought by The Hudson’s Bay company in 1978. The apostrophe was dropped by Simpson’s in 1972, so this piece definitely dates to the 1960s. The fur is a yellowish white color, the natural color of Mongolian lamb hair. The piece has no closures.
This should fit a medium size, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Shoulders: 15” across from seam to seam, measured from the interior.
Sleeves: 25” long
Sleeve inseam: 23” long
Bust: 39” to 42” around, depending on gap at opening
Waist: about 40” around, again, depending on gap at opening
Length: 21”, measured flat
This is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or odor - it was obviously well cared for over the years. The skin on the interior is demonstrating some patina and slight rub wear, but this is normal and shouldn’t bother anyone.
This is a perfect 60s piece - great for aprés ski or just as a wonderful fashion statement....
