Vintage Mod 1960s Blue Leather Coat Ladies Sz M Quebec Leather Garments Montreal

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a late 1960s or early 1970s mod styled blue leather coat.  The coat is made in a shorter length, fitted at the waist and cinched with a belt attached at either side. It has rounded butterfly type collar/lapels and a slant pocket at either side. The coat does up the front with twelve silver toned snaps.  It is lined in a quilted black nylon fabric.  I posed the coat in the photos with the belt attached both at the front and at the back, but it really should be attached at the front.

Label: Quebec Leather Garments Montreal.  The lack of a CA textile identification number dates it prior to 1973.

Sizing: Curiously, there size label reads US size 7/8 Canadian size 9/10 - the first time that I’ve seen a difference stated between US and Canadian sizes, which normally are the same.  Although this should fit a medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the coat and the thickness of the leather into consideration:

Shoulders:  15” across from one shoulder sleeve seam to the other shoulder sleeve seam

Sleeves:  22” from the shoulder sleeve seam

Sleeve Inseam:  16 1/2”

Bust:  36” around

Bottom:  30” around

Hips:  36” around

Overall length:  29 1/2”, measured flat

Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or staining - one pinprick wear spot on the right collar, really minor.  In addition, the lining at the armpits has a bit of discolouration (see last close-up photo).  Aside from that, the coat looks great - this looks to have seen little use and has been well kept and stored over the years.

This is a wonderful late 60s / early 70s leather coat - perfect period style!
