This is a wonderful pair of vintage mens shoes made in a black patent leather wholecut balmoral style. The wholecut balmoral is considered to be the true style of shoe to be worn for black tie occasions. These shoes have their original leather sole and rubber heel. They feature a plain toe and a five eye lace-up. They were made by Slater during the 1960s - George A. Slater was a Montreal manufacturer and retailer of shoes that was in business from 1880 into the 1960s.
Sole stamping: Slater Combination B/D
Sizing: Size 9 M is indicated, but please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Insoles: 11 1/2” in length from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel
Soles: 11 7/8” in length from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel
Sole width: 4” at their widest including lip
These look to have seen very little use and were well stored and cared for over the years. The soles do demonstrate evidence of use (see photo) and the rubber at the back of the heel is slightly worn, but certainly in usable condition. The uppers, however, are in great condition and even the gold stamping on the insoles in mostly unworn and legible. Really, this pair is in surprisingly wonderful condition for a used pair of shoes that are 50 years old.
This is a great pair of vintage black tie shoes. Not your typical oxford or wingtip, this pair packs a lot of vintage class coupled with very nice quality....
