This is a square silk scarf made during the 1970s by Grés Paris.  The scarf features a floral and foliate design set against a white background with grey striping.  The scarf has a white hand rolled and finished edge.  It is signed “Gres Paris” at the lower right border corner.

Madame Grés was a legendary Paris couturier, the last of the Parisian couture houses to launch a pret-a-porter line.  Grés was considered a master of haute couture design and had a clientele that included the Duchess of Windsor, Grace Kelly, Marlene and Greta Garbo.  She worked until the late 1980s, even after selling her fashion house in 1984.  This scarf would have been produced when she was still active in her own business during the 70s.

Size: 33” by 34”

Condition: It is in very good condition with the exception of a one small brown spot at the edge of the scarf.  I haven’t had the scarf dry cleaned, but the spot looks stubborn to me - despite this, it’s a small spot compared to the rest of the scarf, so fairly negligible.

This is a very nice vintage silk scarf by a renowned French fashion house - very 70s!
