Vintage Indian Cotton Gauze Dress 1970s Violet Floral Ptn NOS Small Deadstock

This product is unavailable
This is an unused old store stock Indian printed cotton dress, never used, and one of a lot that I’ve acquired that were stored for the last 45 years in their plastic bags. This particular dress is printed in an ornate floral and foliate pattern with larger floral motifs appearing in black bands around the dress. The dress is printed in colours of black, violet purple, olive green and tan white with metallic gold accents on the narrow olive green bands. The fabric was made in India of 100% cotton, woven in a lightweight gauzy construction, great for summer wear. The dress has no closures except for a pair of ties at the open neckline - otherwise, it simply fits over the head. The sleeve cuffs close with a single button. The last photo shown here gives you an idea of the variety of dresses that I have for sale.
Label: S Cotton CA-02911 Made in India. CA-02911 is the Canadian textile identification number for the Indian Palace located on Place Phillips in Montreal, and which specialized in the import of goods from India.
Size: Size S for small is indicated, but I also have this dress in a large - please note that these Indian cotton dresses were never quality controlled, so please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the dress into account (please note that this dress has no closures, must go over the head, and fit loosely). Please inquire about measurements should you require a larger size:
Shoulders: 15” from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 23” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 20”
Bust: 44” around
Waist: 38" around
Hips: 46” around, but meant to fall loosely
Length: 48“, measured lying flat
Condition: It is in excellent condition, but please note that there had been an elastic in the waist that has been dried out, so no longer has elasticity. This is typical for these Indian dresses and really doesn’t affect fit, but if you wanted to, you could have the elastic replaced. Because it had been stored in plastic for 45 years, I did launder it to freshen it up. It is ready for use.
This is a wonderful Indian cotton dress from the 70s - rare to find old unused examples like this!
