Vintage Harris Tweed Sport Coat Mens Jacket Brown Herringbone Wool Tailored Fit

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a 1970s era Harris tweed jacket or sport coat that was tailored by Henley for the Tip Top Company of Montreal.  The jacket is very tailored,  fitted at the waist with padded shoulders.  The fabric is woven in a herringbone pattern in tones of tan. brown and some grey, creating an overall brown colour.  The jacket has a flapped patch pocket at either side as well as an additional flap above the right pocket and a pocket at the left chest.  It has fairly wide notched lapels with a buttonhole tab at the left collar.  It closes with two faux leather plastic buttons at the front.  There are two similar buttons at either cuff and the back bottom has a 12” single centre vent. The jacket is fully lined in a bronze acetate fabric printed with a crisscross pattern as well as with lions and fleur-de-lys.  It has a pocket built into the interior at either side.

Fabric label:  Harris Tweed label with the authentic mark of the Orb and stamped with a serial number

Fabric: 100% Scottish Wool tweed

Sizing: Size 42 regular is indicated on the cardboard tag on the interior of the inside pocket, but this is quite fitted, so might be better on a size 40 - please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare measurements with a similar jacket that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment into account):

Shoulders: 18” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 25” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 17 1/2”

Chest:  44” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  40” around

Overall length:  31”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no stains, odours, wear or tears - this jacket looks to have seen very little use and has been well cared for over the years.

This is a well tailored jacket made with a quality tweed fabric - many years of use left in this!
