This is a Harris tweed jacket or sport coat that was tailored for the Cortly Company of Montreal.  The fabric is woven in a herringbone pattern in tones of tan, grey and dark brown, but the overall appearance is a muted brown colour.  The jacket has a flapped pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest.  It has medium width notched lapels and closes with two faux leather plastic buttons at the front.  There are three similar buttons at either cuff and the back bottom has a 12” single center vent. The jacket is fully lined in a beige acetate fabric.  It has a pocket built into the interior at either side.

Fabric label:  Harris Tweed label with the authentic mark of the Orb

Union label: ACTWU / TAVT - this label dates the jacket to 1976 or later, but the jacket is most likely from the mid to late 70s.

Fabric: 100% Scottish Wool tweed

Sizing: Size 44 R is indicated, but this is a vintage size, so please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare measurements with a similar jacket that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment into account):

Shoulders: 19” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 26” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 17”

Chest:  44” around, taken under the arms

Waist:  39” around

Overall length:  31”, measured flat

Condition:  It is in very good condition. There is one small ink stain on the lining under the inner pocket where the Harris Tweed label is. Also there is a four inch tear at the center of the lining at the seam area, can be stitched back.

This is a well tailored jacket made with a quality tweed fabric - many years of use left in this, great jacket if it fits!
