Vintage French Velvet Towering Beret Hat Marcelle Georges Paris Ladies Size S / M

I’m not sure of how one would classify the style of this hat, but to me it looks like a mix between a beret and a turban - might be what is referred to as a "towering" beret.  The exterior is made of concentrically stitched red velvet while the interior is lined in black acetate.  The label reads “Marcelle Georges 48, Rue de Paradis - Paris Made in France”.  The opening measures 21” around, but this is supposed to fit on the top of the head, so this should fit a range of sizes small to medium.  I believe that this hat would date to the 1950s.  It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear or soiling - this has been very well cared for over the years.

This is a wonderful Parisian hat - nice quality and attractive color!
