This is a vintage faux fur coat made in Canada under the “Sirbain” brand name. Sirbain was founded in 1949 by French emigré to Canada, Jeanne Sirbain. She was one of the first to feature faux fur as an alternative to real fur. The coat can be dated to 1971-1972 because of the postal code, which came into use in Canada in 1971 and the Park Avenue address, from which Sirbain moved in 1972.
The coat features an ocelot cat print, similar to a leopard print, and is made in a classic style with padded shoulders, rounded collar and mid-calf length. It does up with five loops and buttons down the front. There is a pocket built into the left side. The coat is lined in orange coloured satin.
