Vintage 60s Mod Era Mens Suit w Pinstripe Unused w Tags Size M 38

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This product is unavailable

This is a wonderful unused 60s mod era men’s suit made in a grey wool fabric with alternating blue, white and black pinstripes - the wool is spun in what I think is a worsted finish (see view the photos).  The sleeve still retains its “Pure Virgin Wool” label as well as a cardboard tag printed with “Mens Blade Short 38W32”.  The jacket has padded shoulders, high set wide notched lapels, a three button closure and is fitted at the waist.  The sleeves have a single button at the cuff.  There is a flapped pocket at either side and a pocket at the left chest.  The jacket has a single vent at the back that measures 10 1/2”.  It is half lined in an eye-popping zig-zag white and black on silver grey lining.  The pants have a flat front (no pleats) and a leg that flares to the bottom with no cuff, but hemmed with 1 3/4” of fabric on the interior.

Age: mid 1960s

Label: ACWU Union label that was used between 1962 and 1976, but no maker’s label.

Sizing: As mentioned, size 38 jacket with 32” waist pants is indicated, but being a vintage sizing, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the fabric and the cut of the suit into consideration):

Shoulders: 17” across shoulder seam-to-seam

Sleeves: 24” from shoulder seam

Sleeve Inseam: 15 1/2” long

Chest: 40” around, taken under the arms

Waist: 35”, around

Overall length: 28"

Waist:  32” - there is a bit of fabric at the back that could be let out

Length:  38 1/2”

Leg Inseam:  29 1/2”

Condition: This suit is in excellent unused condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours.  It is very crisp and clean and was well stored over the years.

This is a wonderful mod era suit - great fit, quality fabric, striking pinstripe......rare to find unused suits of this period!
