Vintage 1960s Irish Fringed Wool Plaid Jacket Merrywear Ireland Siesta Style Coat
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a hooded plaid wool jacket made in Ireland by Merrywear of Ennis, County Clare. The jacket takes some inspiration from the “Siesta” styled Western American jackets of the 40s and 50s, with wool fringe across the chest and the bottom, but this is more of a winter version with a hood. It does up with a YKK metal zipper and has a patch pocket built onto either side. It is fully lined in maroon coloured acetate. The exterior is in tones of maroon, green and navy blue, almost black.
Label: Hand Made in Rep. of Ireland Merrywear Ennis Co. Clare. Merrywear Limited was incorporated in 1967 - they appear to have gone out of business circa 1978
