This is an exercise unitard, part of the Flexatard line designed by Gilda Marx. I believe that this is an early example, probably dating to the early 1980s, possibly late 70s. Marx introduced and branded the “Flexatard” fabric in 1978. She established a chain of “Body Design by Gilda Marx” exercise studios and marketed activewear under an umbrella of different brand names in 45 countries.
This example is in red with black optic striping through the upper front and back. The size and content label is washed out.
Sizing: As mentioned, the size is difficult to read, and although this should fit a small to maybe medium size, please note the following measurements for fit, taking the stretch of the fabric into consideration:
Bust: 29” unstretched, stretches out to 33”-36” max
Waist: 20” around, stretches out to 28” max
Hips: 36” around, unstretched
Overall length: 56", measured flat
Condition: Pre-owned, but in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or odour. This piece looks to have seen little to moderate use and has been well stored and cared for over the years.
This is a rarely seen item - perfect 1980s exercise look!
