This is a bright blue men’s custom tailored suit dated to 1979. This suit has a label that reads “Couturier Realdo Quebec” - the tailor’s label reads “La Maison de Couture Realdo” and has a date of “19/6/79” on it. I haven’t been able to find anything out about this couturier other than he did costuming for a Quebec produced movie. The jacket is fitted and has peaked lapels, a slant flapped pocket at either front side, a two button closure, three button cuffs, an 11” back vent and is fully lined in a grey viscose fabric. The pants are made with a flat front and a flared leg with a quite wide cuff.
Material: Unsure, as it is custom tailored and there is no content label, but my best guess would be a wool worsted or wool blend in a summer weave
Sizing: Again, custom tailored, so no size is indicated, and although this should fit about a size 38 with long arms, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the style of the suit and the thickness of the fabric into consideration):
Jacket:
Shoulders: 17 1/2” across shoulder seam-to-seam
Sleeves: 27” from shoulder seam
Sleeve Inseam: 19 1/2” long
Chest: 41” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 39” around
Overall length: 30“, measured flat
Pants:
Waist: 32” around - there is a bit of extra fabric at the waist, so you might be able to get a tailor to increase this to 34”
Leg Inseam: 33” long
Overall length: 42 1/2” - there is 2 1/2”-3” of fabric inside the cuff
Condition: This suit is in excellent condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors - it looks like it saw little or no use and was very well kept over the years.
This is a wonderful example of a 1979 suit - expertly tailored in a striking colour, very modern looking!
