This is a 1970s Donegal tweed short coat that is made in a shorter length.  The tweed is woven in tones of dark brown, almost black and grey with specks of colour - red, yellow and green.  This 1970s Donegal tweed short coat is made with a wide collar and wide lapels in a quasi-military style, a six imitation leather plastic button double breasted front, vertical side pockets and with a patch pocket at either lower side.  It is lined in a bronze brown coloured satin viscose fabric that is backed with cloth.  It has a 15” vent at the bottom back.  

Label: Croydon. Croydon was a trademark of Canadian manufacturer Warnaco of Prescott, Ontario.  They began in 1874 as the maker of Warner’s corsets, and evolved into a multi-channel apparel company.  Croydon was filed as a trademark in 1964.

Age:  mid 1970s  

Fabric label:  65% wool / 30% polyester / 5% acrylic

Sizing: Size R-42 is indicated on the label, but please rely on the following measurements for fit of the 1970s Donegal tweed short coat:

Shoulders: 19” across shoulder/sleeve seams

Sleeves: 25 1/2” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeve inseam: 17”

Chest:  46”

Waist:  44”

Overall length:  33 1/2”, measured flat at the back from the neck

Condition:  This 1970s Donegal tweed short coat is in very clean condition with no stains, odour, wear or tears - it looks to have seen very little use and has been well cared for over the years.
