This is a wonderful 1960s plush fedora marketed under the Pierre Dorval brand name, but almost certainly made by Biltmore of Canada. Biltmore was founded in 1917 and was Canada’s premier hat maker, rival to Stetson.
This 1960s plush fedora is made in a silver grey long haired finish. The brim is a medium width, turned up at the back and stitched back at the edge. The crown has a black grosgrain band around its base and there is an orange, green and yellow feather at the left side. The sweatband is silver stamped “Canadian Rondelay” and has a label affixed to it with the retailer’s name “M.O. David & Cie St. Hyacinthe, Que”. The lining is stamped in gold and black with “Pierre Dorval London, Paris, New York, Montreal”. It is sized as a 7 - it measures 22” around the sweat band and 6 1/2” by 8” across the opening. The brim measures 2 1/4” in width and the crown measures 4 1/2” in height. This 1960s plush fedora is in very good condition with no noted wear or soiling - looks like it saw little, if any, use.
This is a great looking 1960s plush fedora!
