This is a 1960s, era cotton sun dress made by De Weese.  The dress has adjustable shoulder straps and an elasticized smocked back.  The bust is defined by an inverted V seam and the mid section is fitted, defined at the bottom by a V shaped seam.  The skirt is cut to flare to the hemline in a below the knee length.  It is unlined and has no closures, it simply slips over the head.

Label:  De Weese Design - the back of the label reads “Swim and Sun Fashions Los Angeles California”.  De Weese was founded by Mary Ann De Weese in 1951 after a 16 year career designing for Los Angeles Knitting Mills.  De Weese was a highly acclaimed designer, working with Hollywood stars and designing the swimsuits used for the Miss America Pageant. Sizing:  There is no size label, and although this should fit a small to medium size, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking into account the style of the dress and the stretch of the back (please measure your body or a similar garment that you might own for comparison):

Bust: 34” around

Waist: 25” around

Hips:  36” around

Overall length: 43“, measured flat from the top of the shoulder strap, adjusted to its highest setting, to the hemline

Condition:  It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, staining or soiling.
