Vintage 1950s Yellow Silk Noil Wiggle Dress w Floral Appliqués Size Medium

From the 50s this is a silk noil dress with printed flower appliqués. It's a sheath styled dress with a V shaped neckline accented with a small bow. The dress is cut in a form fitting shape, accenting the bust, waistline and hips. It has two pleats at the waistline in the front and a small kick pleat at the bottom back. It has a below the knee length. It is lined in pale yellow rayon. The dress does up at the back with a small tooth metal zipper.

Color: Yellow with yellow and brown appliqués

Material: silk noil - fibre tested by the burn method.  Note the close-up photo as the material has areas that are devoid of “finish”, which creates an uneven colour effect

Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, all given in inches:

Bust: 36

Waist: 27

Hips: 36

Overall length: 39

Condition: It is in very condition with no pronounced wear, tear or staining.  There is a tiny black mark in a couple of places (see last close-up photo) - this appears to be in the weave, probably a manufacturing byproduct.  In addition, the two rose appliqués at the back need stitching down along the edge in a short length, a minor repair. Otherwise, this looks like it was well cared for and stored over the years.

This is a very attractive dress - pretty colour, very nice fabric, great summer dress.
