This is a wonderful early 1950s grey tweed finished wool “swing” outerwear jacket/short coat. It has padded shoulders, full cut cuffed sleeves and is cut to flare out to the hemline (note measurements). The jacket has a narrow standing collar and a single button closure at the neck - otherwise it has no closures and simply overlaps at the front. It is fully lined in a grey satin fabric. Please note that this is a lighter weight jacket, suitable for evening or moderately cool temperatures, not cold winter climates. There is no label, but it is definitely manufactured.
Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a medium size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the wool and the style of the jacket into account:
Shoulders: 16 1/2” across from shoulder sleeve seam to shoulder sleeve seam
Sleeves: 23” from the shoulder sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 16 1/2”
Bust: 47” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 54” around
Hemline: 68” around with no overlap
Overall length: 26 1/2“, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, soiling or odour - very clean, this jacket looks to have seen very little use and was well stored over the years.
This is a wonderful early 50s swing jacket - super style, classic yet contemporary looking!
