This is a wonderful early 1950s era skirt suit made in a very attractive ice blue faille fabric with light violet grey “slubs” - might be silk, or a blend of some sort. Faille is usually made of silk or synthetic warp fibres and cotton, wool or silk weft fibres. The jacket has padded shoulders, a rounded corner squared collar and a closure consisting of five matching covered buttons. The jacket has long sleeves with turned cuffs and a shallow circular pocket at either lower side, each decorated with a tab. The jacket is tailored to cinch at the waist and form a “peplum” at the hips. It is fully lined in a brownish grey satin fabric. The skirt has a below the knee/upper calf length with a centre kick pleat at the back. It is unlined and does up the side with a metal zipper. The lady to whom this belonged was married during the early 50s and this was her “going away” outfit.

Condition: The suit is in very good condition with no wear, tear or odors - there is a pinhead sized very, very light yellowish mark to the right chest that I’ve pretty much eliminated, but there is a ghost remnant. You could keep on working on it, but it really is negligible and not worth any more effort. Otherwise, this suit looks like it saw little use and was very well kept over the years. .
This is a wonderful quality early 50s period suit - great style and colour, very attractive!
