This is a 1950s Canadian pottery vase made by the Importex Company of British Columbia under their Royal Ariston brand name. Importex was founded in 1928 by the Fleischhauer brothers as an importer of German ceramics. Due to WWII, supply was interrupted, so in 1950 Importex began to manufacture their own pottery under the Royal Ariston name. The company was sold to BC Ceramics in 1954, so Royal Ariston was only produced over a four year period. The vase is glazed in green gloss and features a raised pattern of a crane amidst foliage and acanthus leaves. The vase is in very good condition with no noted wear, chips or cracks. It measures 11 in height and 6 1/2 by 4 1/2 across its top - nice size for floral display. It is impressed on its underside with Royal Ariston British Columbia 2805X. Nice addition to a Canadian pottery collection, not a common piece!
