Vintage 1940s Tie Modernaire Prints by Forsyth Wide Necktie
This is an original vintage 1940s tie labelled “Modernaire Prints by Forsyth”, dating to approximately 1949–1950. The tie features a burgundy jacquard background woven with a subtle floral pattern, accented by a series of geometric diamond motifs in yellow, grey, and black. The style, proportions, and construction are characteristic of the post-war tie designs popular at the end of the 1940s.
The tie measures 50" in length and 4 1/2" across the wide end, which corresponds precisely to the late-forties period when ties reached their maximum widths. The label, damask weave, and structural details are also consistent with Forsyth ties produced between 1948 and 1951.
Material: Not marked—likely rayon, standard for the period
Origin: Canada
Condition: In very good condition with the exception of soiling to the lining at the either end - the exterior appears to be free of soiling, staining or wear, but the tie requires a professional pressing.
A handsome and authentic example of a late decade vintage 1940s tie - sure to be noticed!
