This is a pair of vintage overshoe boots that date to the late 1940s. They would accommodate a 1940s shoe with chunky heel and rounded toe. They are made in felted black rubber with a decorative bow at the side. They close with a metal zipper. The interior is lined in beige coloured fleece. The soles are impressed with “KM KM", and the size, 7. They come with an original period box with a “BF Goodrich Gluv Style” box that I don’t believe is original to the boots, but makes a nice display - I found the boots in this box at an old general store that was being liquidated after being turned into a museum for the last 30 or 40 years. The box is lined with the original merchant’s paper, Gerard Lesage of Louiseville, Quebec. It’s interesting to note that the telephone number is simply “54”. It is possible that the box is older than the boots. Each overshoe measures 10" in length along the sole from the tip of the toe to the back of the heel and has a sole width of 3 1/8 at the widest part. They have a height of 7”. They have a slight hump at the back above the heel that would accommodate a 40s period shoe with that shape. They are in very good condition - there is barely any wear to the sole and some wear to the interior (see last close-up photo), but these obviously saw little use. The box has a tear to one corner. This is a very nice pair of overshoes for a pair of vintage 40s shoes!
