Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is a beautifully tailored vintage 40s era suit, possibly bought with wartime or post war coupons. The suit is made in a charcoal grey coloured twill finished wool in a fairly substantial weight. The shoulders of the jacket are heavily padded and the lapels are peaked. It has a single button closure within a four button double breasted configuration and has a single button at the end of each sleeve. There is a flapped pocket at either side and a pocket at the left breast. The jacket is fully lined in black satin fabric. It has two interior pockets. The pants are pleated and have a button-up fly and waist cinching tabs at either side. The seat of the pants are hand sewn with a separate panel in the seat, quite intricately done (see last two close-up photos). The legs are cuffed.

Material: Wool. It is a quite heavyweight fabric, definitely a fall/winter suit. They don’t make fabric of this quality any longer and haven’t for some time. Falls beautifully due to weight and quality.
Sizing: No size is indicated, as it was custom tailored, but this should fit a medium size, probably size 40 short, maybe a 42 short, with a 34” waist - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taken from the exterior (please take the thickness of the wool into consideration) and note the width across the upper back/shoulders and length of sleeves:
Jacket:
Shoulders: 20” across shoulder seam-to-seam
Upper back: 17” across sleeve seams
Sleeves: 23 1/2” from shoulder seam - 1 1/2" extra fabric in cuff
Sleeve Inseam: 16 1/2” long
Chest: 45” around, taken under the arms
Waist: 42”
Overall length: 29 1/2“
Pants:
Waist: 34”, uncinched by a belt and with the tabs adjusted for more room
Leg Inseam: 29 3/4” long
Overall length: 41"
Condition: This suit is in very clean condition with no wear, tear, stains or odors. It looks like this suit saw little use and was very well kept over the years.
This is a beautiful quality suit - hard to find suits of this era!
