This is a 1940s era printed crepe dress. The fabric has a pinkish background that is printed with a green “ghosted” pattern - the overall effect is a greyish green colour. The background is printed with flowers - I think that the flowers are a type of Queen Anne’s Lace, printed in tones of purple, yellow and white. The dress has padded shoulders, elbow length sleeves that are notched at the back, a wide collar that is notched along the bottom and a bodice that is decorated with six matching covered buttons. Please note that the dress was too large for my mannequin so was pinned back for the photos.
Label: None.
Fabric: Crepe, possibly a silk crepe. It has very nice fall - could be natural wood rayon, but I think silk
Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a large size, please note the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the dress into account:
Shoulders: 17” across the shoulder seams
Sleeves” 10” from the shoulder seam
Bust: 44” around, taken under the arm openings
Waist: 34” around
Hips 44” around
Length: 46”, measured flat
Condition: This dress is in very good condition - there are two tiny wear spots on the bodice towards the bottom of a pleat on either side, visible in the close-up photo of the bodice, and really very minor. Otherwise, the dress is in great shape.
These 1940s crepe dresses are becoming very difficult to find, especially in a large size like this!
