Vintage 1940s 50s Swing Jacket Muskrat Fur Ladies Size M L
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful late 1940s / early 1950s muskrat fur “swing” outerwear jacket/short coat. It has padded shoulders, long sleeves with amazing cuffs and is cut to flare out to the hemline (note measurements). The jacket has a narrow shawl collar and closes with three hooks and loops - you could leave the top hook undone for a more open neckline. It is fully lined in a brown fabric. The jacket has a beautiful flare to the hemline - note the draping at the back and the very attractive striping. There is a pocket built into either side. It has a stock furrier’s label inside the inner pocket.
Sizing: No size is indicated, but it should fit a medium to large size - please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the wool and the style of the jacket into account:
Shoulders: 18” across from shoulder sleeve seam to shoulder sleeve seam
Sleeves: 24” from the shoulder sleeve seam
Sleeve inseam: 16”
Bust: 42” around, taken under the arms
Hemline: 72” around measured laid out straight
Overall length: 27“, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, splits soiling or odour except for wear to the lining at the underarms (see last close-up photo) and some discolouration to the lining at the upper back (see photo). Otherwise, this jacket is clean and looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the years. Muskrat, like all water based mammals, is very robust and should last for years with normal care.
This is a wonderful fur swing jacket - super style, sure to be noticed!
