This is a vintage mens outer jacket made in a checked patterned wool, dating either to the late 1940s or the 1950s. The wool is in colours of black, grey and white with light blue and teal green thin intersecting lines. It features a pointy collar and small, narrow lapels. It closes at the front with a Lightning zipper (Lightning Fasteners of Ontario, Canada) and has a loop and button closure under the collar should you wish to close the neck. There is a patch pocket at either bottom side. The jacket is fully lined in a quilted lavender grey fabric. There is a button-down belt at either cuff.
Label: None, but because of the zipper, probably Canadian made
Material: 100% Wool
Sizing: There is no size label and although this should fit a medium size (probably a US 38), please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the thickness of the fabric into account (measure either a similar jacket that you own or compare to your body measurements):
Neck: 15” around, inside dimension, buttoned up
Shoulders: 17” across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeves: 23” from the shoulder/sleeve seam
Sleeve Inseam: 15 1/2”
Chest: 45” around
Bottom: 46” around
Length: 28”, measured flat
Condition: It is in very good condition with no pronounced wear, tear, stains or odours - this looks to have seen little use and was well stored over the last 70 or so years. It should last for many years given the quality of the wool.
This is a great looking wool outer jacket not often seen,….sure to be noticed!
