Rossignol JC de Castelbajac Designer Ski Jacket Gore Tex w Down Fill Mens Size L
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a men’s ski jacket designed by Jean Charles Castelbajac for Rossignol. Castelbajac and Rossignol started their collaboration in 2001, and which continues to today with Castelbajac designing a line each year for Rossignol. Rossignol, of course, is a famous French manufacturer, founded in 1907, and famous for their skis and other ski accessories and apparel. Castelbajac is a marquis and fashion designer who introduced his first collection in 1970. He is known for his designs for Madonna and Lady Gaga and for injecting pop music and pop art themes into his fashion, working with Keith Harring, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat. It appears that he now designs a women’s line for Rossignol, but not a men’s line, so this jacket is an older design. It is printed with a plaid design - intersecting lines in colours of lime, orange, brown, olive green, forest green and blue against a white background. The outer shell is made of polyester with a Gore-Tex membrane and the lining is made of polyamide with a polyester down filling and polyester mesh. The jacket has all of the features of a quality ski jacket - raglan type sleeves, faux fur trimmed hood, velcro and zipper side pockets with rubber pulls, zippered pocket with rubber pull on the left sleeve and at either side of the front chest, interior mesh pockets and other well thought out and designed features (please view all of the photos). It has elasticized cuffs and bottom. The faux fur can be worn around the neck only or around the face if the hood is put over the head - it’s amazingly warm either way. The lining is printed with a cartoon drawing with text explaining the definition of rock and roll.
Age: 2001 or later
Sizing: The size label reads “L” for large, so it should fit a man that wears a US size 42/44”. Please note the following measurements, taken from the exterior:
Sleeves: 34 1/2” long from the neck seam
Sleeve Inseam: 23 1/2” long
Chest: 52” around, taken under the arms
Bottom: 40” around the elasticized band, unstretched
Overall length: 28"
Condition: It is in very condition with no wear, tear, stains or odours - a slight bit of soiling to the label, but that is about all. Otherwise, this is crisp and clean that I doubt that it saw much use at all.
This is a wonderful ski jacket - can’t beat a designer Rossignol jacket, sure to be a collectible in the future!
