This is a 50s era rockabilly style party dress featuring a white polka dot silk screened print against a navy blue background color. Each polka dot has a “ghosted” image shadowing it. The dress is made in a sleeveless style with a full “circle” cut skirt. The bodice has a horizontally pleated white insert at the V shaped neckline with a decorative bow at the bottom of the neckline. The waist is defined with a wide band and has a matching belt to further accentuate the form. The skirt is cut full - please note that the dress was posed with a crinoline, but none is included, so to achieve the same full skirt, you should use a crinoline. It does up with a metal zipper up the back and is lined with a purple toned acetate. Please note that the bust was too large for my mannequin, so was pinned back for the photos - the silhouette of the dress will be somewhat different on your body.
Label: No label
Color: Blue and white
Material: Organza, probably rayon
Sizing: No size is indicated, but this should fit a medium to large size - please rely on the following measurements for fit (compare measurement with a similar garment that you presently own or to your own body measurements, taking the cut of the garment into account):
Shoulders: 17” across
Bust: 40” around, taken under the arm opening - should be some extra room
Waist: 29” around, uncinched
Overall length: 46”
It is in very good condition - I’ve noticed a light brownish tone on two of the polka dots that I haven’t tried to remove, but otherwise, very clean and looks like it saw little use. This has been well kept and stored over the years.
This is a perfect 50s era dress - great party dress....
