Quality Vintage Black Wool Cape or Cloak with Hood
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a wonderful black cape or cloak with attached hood. It is a very nice quality piece, wonderfully structured and expertly constructed - you can tell just by the stitching on the interior seams and the attention to detail. The cape is reminiscent of pieces designed by Yeohlee Teng, a New York designer, although I don’t think that it is by her - there is no label on this piece except for a material content label, so I cannot attribute it to a maker. The material label reads “Pure New Wool” in English, German, French and Dutch, so I assume that this is of European origin. The wool is tightly woven, so has some stiffness, and is fairly light, very nice quality. The cloak closes with a single metal button at the neckline and with four buttons down the front that are hidden by a flap. The neck collar is independent of the hood, narrow and standing, almost like a cleric’s collar - the hood is attached at the back below the collar. There is a pocket built into either front side and there are arm openings at either side. There is a chain affixed to the back of the neck. It is unlined. This should be a one size fits all piece - the neck measures 16 3/4” around, the cloak has a length of 44” at the front, a little longer at the back and is cut full. The cloak is in very good condition with no wear, tear, staining or odour - there is a spare metal button as well as a spare plastic button attached to the bottom interior.
I don’t know who made this, but it definitely is a good piece - sold at a very reasonable price, this will make you look very stylish!
