60s Vintage Bracelet by Jorgen Jensen Denmark Modernist Pewter
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a pewter bracelet made in Denmark by Jorgen Jensen. Jorgen Jensen worked at Georg Jensen's workshop for awhile, and by co-incidence Georg Jensen had a son by the same name, but there is no relation between this Jorgen Jensen and Georg Jensen. Jorgen Jensen established his own workshop in Copenhagen between 1960 and 1965. As he stated "I like plain shapes and simple lines" - this bracelet fits that modernist sentiment perfectly. It consists of four symmetrically turned pieces held together by round links.
It measures 7 3/4" in length and is quite heavy, weighing 80 grams (2.8 oz), an indication of its quality. It is in very good condition with the exception of a small wear spot at the tip of one piece (see last close-up photo). I haven't tried to buff the spot, but maybe a jeweler could do something about it - in any case, it's a fairly minor issue.
The back of one link is stamped "Jorgen Jensen Denmark" and "413 Pewter".
This is the best example of Jorgen Jensen's work that I've seen - wonderful modern design!
