This is a wonderful pair of modernist earrings signed by Montreal jeweler Guy (Gilles) Vidal. They are made of pewter and cast as a stick figure. They are unsigned but I am fairly certain that they are by Vidal as they came with a few other pieces made by Vidal and Robert Larin - these two Canadian artisan jewelers produced distinctive pieces in pewter using the lost wax method, there really is no other product like theirs to my knowledge. Each measures 1 7/8” in in height with the exception of the screw-on attachments, which I believe are add-ons, probably not original to the cast pieces. The earrings are in very good condition.
Examples of Vidal’s work are difficult to come by - he and Robert Larin are two Canadian jewelry designers who worked in similar metal and had similar designs during the 1960s and 70s....this is a very interesting pair, sure to be noticed....
