About the Designer: Dresses with the New York label were prêt–à–porter and were designed by Christian Dior until his death (1958), then by Yves St Laurent during 1959 and 1960 and Marc Bohan in 1961. Subsequent to this, the designs were subcontracted to various other designers. This particular New York label was in use between 1961 and 1963, so it is possible that it was designed by Marc Bohan, but it could also have been designed by an unnamed designer (info courtesy of the Vintage Fashion Guild).
- Clean with no wear, tear or staining.
- Dress would benefit from a professional steaming as I was unable to get rid of all of the creasing and there appear to be a few small spots where the velvet is matted - marks will hopefully disappear with a professional treatment, but they are quite small and insignificant in any case.
