Vintage French Black Leather Gloves by Jonquet Ladies Size 6.75
Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing
This is a exceptional quality pair of 1950s era gloves made in black leather. The stamping on the interior left glove reads “Gant Jonquet Lavable Made in France”. Jonquet was a venerable French leather tanner and glove manufacturer, located in Millau, originally founded as the “Platanes” factory during the last quarter of the 19th century. After a succession of owners, the factory was sold to Albert Jonquet in 1930, although Jonquet had already been in the glove business since 1920. I believe that they went out of business in 1971 after seeing enormous success before and after WWII, until gloves were no longer in vogue. The gloves are in excellent condition and look like they saw no use. They have graduated rows of pullwork with a half bow at the top of each row.
Size: They are stamped as a size 6 3/4. They have a length of 11 3/8” to the middle finger. They measure 3” across the palm - although there is some stretch, please be aware of this measurement, perhaps measure another similar pair of gloves that you may own. The middle finger measures 3 1/4” in length, so these would be for someone with longer fingers.
This is a very attractive pair of vintage gloves - lovely French quality!
