This is a fabulous art deco era evening bag that was made in France. The bag is covered in gold and iridescent/aurora colored sequins in a design that looks like a sunrise. The sides are embroidered with metallic gold thread and there are some seed pearls applied to the bottom on either side. The frame is made of detailed doré brass that is studded with red and blue rhinestones as well as enameled four leaf clovers on the front - the back of the frame is plain. The push tab used to open and close the purse is also decorated with an enamel clover. The interior is lined in grosgrain cream colored fabric that has a pocket built onto one side. It has a doubled carrying chain that can be elongated by using it has a single chain. It is in very good condition with the exception of a row of seed pearls as well as maybe one or two others missing at the bottom of the front. Aside from this, there are a couple of sequins missing at the upper right front and a row of sequins missing at the upper back. The sequined pattern is so striking, however, that these missing pearls and sequins have little impact on the general appearance of the piece. The carrying strap has a “drop” of 6” doubled up, and 9 1/2” when used as a single chain. The bag measures about 5 1/2” square.
Glittery evening accent handbag with a beautiful jeweled frame.
