This is an authentic Victorian era Valentine card, dating to the 19th century. The card is made with a two layer “paper lace” front, diecut, embossed and pinpricked in an ornate design, and adorned with figural printed diecuts against an embossed paper that is printed in silver, pink, white and blue. The center features a cupid diecut, the upper right diecut featuring roses with text that reads “True Love” and bottom diecut featuring flowers and text that reads “Sweet Remembrance”. Other diecuts include a young boy and various flowers. The interior features a printed message that reads “My Wish - It’s my wish dearest friend, My love ever may blend, With gifts and with kindness, Thy young life to crown”. The card measures 7” by 4 1/2” closed. It is in very good condition, unsigned, but has two pieces of tape on the back as this was probably mounted in an album. Also, there is a small bit of missing paper to the top right of the second layer of lace. This is a very pretty example and a wonderful addition to a collection!
