This is an authentic Victorian era Valentine card, dating to the 19th century. The card is made with a “paper lace” front, diecut, embossed and pinpricked in an ornate design, and adorned with figural printed diecuts against a two layer embossed paper that is printed in gold, pink, white and blue. The center features a diecut of a young girl gathering flowers, with the other four featuring flowers, two with text that reads “Across Your Path May Sunbeams Play” and “May True Friends Be Around You”. The interior features a printed message that reads “Thoust mever find a heart more true, Than mine which plights its vows to you”. The card measures 6 3/4” by 4 1/2” closed. It is in very good condition, unsigned, but has a small bit of missing paper to the top right of the lace and a corner crease to the back as well as some patina/marking to the back, quite minor. This is a lovely example, full of old-fashioned, but heartfelt messages, and a wonderful addition to a collection!
