This is an authentic Victorian era Valentine card, dating to the 19th century. The card is made with a two layer “paper lace” front, diecut, embossed and pinpricked in an ornate design, one silver and one white, and adorned with figural printed floral diecuts. The center features a piece of fabric that is printed with a floral banner with text that reads “A Heart as soft, a heart as kind, A heart as sound and free, as in the whole world thou can find that heart I’ll give it to Thee”. The interior is blank and unsigned. The card measures 7” by 4 5/8” closed. It is in very good condition, unsigned, but has a small tear and some brownish staining to the bottom right of the lace where there probably had been a diecut and a tiny tear to the lace at the right edge as well as some patina/marking to the back and interior, quite minor. In addition, there is some paper loss to the interior of the silver paper lace. This is a lovely example with a beautiful message on the front - a wonderful addition to a collection!
