Antique Scottish Cairngorm Silver Brooch - Citrine and Montrose Agate

Here's a lovely quality Victorian era Scottish Cairngorm brooch. The piece features a prong set Citrine stone in the center with six Montrose Agate demi-lune stones set around it in an engraved silver setting. The silver isn’t marked, but Scottish brooches of this period often are not marked - I haven’t tested it, but there’s no doubt that it is high content silver, probably sterling. The piece has a diameter of 1 3/4”.
It has a few problems, noticeable in the extreme close-up photos, primarily defects in the Montrose agate, either small fissures, surface cuts or edge chips - please look at the photos and also note that under normal viewing, these defects are not at all obvious. One of the prongs holding the citrine is pole set to the setting, but I assume this is original to the making of the piece (see close-up photo). The silver is a little dinged, but this doesn't show when the brooch is worn and is an indication of age. The loop closure is not secure in that it is a little more open than it should be - a small adjustment to make it more secure might be wise, and a jeweller could do this in a matter of seconds.
The brooch probably dates to circa 1890.
This is a lovely quality piece - attractive Victorian era Scottish brooch!
