The broad border is densely decorated with additional flowers and leaves. The decoration combines \u003cb\u003ecobalt blue and iron red with extensive gilt detailing\u003c\/b\u003e on a white ground. Fine iron-red linework fills much of the remaining space.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe plate has a \u003cb\u003escalloped edge\u003c\/b\u003e and a relatively deep profile, measuring approximately 1\" high at the rim.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis type of richly decorated Imari-style stone china was produced by a number of English manufacturers during the early 19th century, including \u003cb\u003eMason's and Hicks, Meigh \u0026amp; Johnson\u003c\/b\u003e, among others. The plate is not marked with a manufacturer's name, and I have not been able to document the pattern sufficiently to attribute it to a particular factory.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe underside bears a small \u003cb\u003eunderglaze blue tally or workman's mark\u003c\/b\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003eCondition:\u003c\/b\u003e There is an \u003cb\u003eimpact hairline\u003c\/b\u003e, clearly visible on the underside and extending through to the front of the plate. It is much less noticeable from the front because it is largely obscured by the dense decoration. There is age-related wear to the edge of the rim, normal for a plate of this age. No restoration noted.
