Antique Edwardian White Cotton Tea Dress 1910 Embroidered Lawn Cotton S / M

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This product is unavailable

This is an Edwardian era tea gown featuring beautiful floral embroidery on a lawn cotton fabric. This is a nice example because of its size - most of these are quite tiny, whereas this one should fit a medium size and could be used as a lovely wedding gown. The piece has a rounded neckline, flounce at either side of the bodice and elbow length sleeves. It does up the back with fourteen tiny mother-of-pearl buttons - one is missing but could be replaced as the buttons are hidden when done up. The neckline has no fastening at the back, but I suspect that there had been a hook and eye or button and loop. Otherwise, the photos should tell the story - please use the zoom tool for a closer look.

Color: White

Material: Cotton lawn. Sheer and semi-transparent.

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although it should fit a medium size, please note the following measurements for fit, keeping the style and cut of the garment in mind (please measure your body or a similar garment that you own):

Shoulders: 14" across from shoulder/sleeve seam to shoulder/sleeve seam

Sleeves: 13" long form shoulder/sleeve seam

Bust: 36", should be worn with a little room

Waist: 27" around

Hips: 40" around, meant to fall loosely

Overall length: 50" measured flat

The dress is in very good condition with the exception of the aforementioned missing buttons, two enlarge buttonholes at the waist and one 1/8" wide hole at the right side of the skirt, quite minor. Otherwise, this dress has no stains, wear or tear or odor and was well kept over the last 100 years.

This is a lovely dress - beautiful embroidery and cotton ....
