Antique Edwardian Era Dressing Gown Pink Silk & Lace Peignoir Ladies Size L

Brand Poppy's Vintage Clothing

This is an antique dressing gown dating to the Edwardian era (1901-1910).  The piece is made of check patterned pink silk with a pink coloured crochet lace top.  It has a beautiful crochet lace bodice. The piece is loose fitting and is secured closed with a light green tasseled ribbon inserted through the bottom of the lace top.  The ribbon runs through the lace on either side of the V shaped neckline and also through the edge of each sleeve.  There is also ribbon falling down the back, also tasseled, and there are similar tasseled ribbons hanging from the sleeves.  The sleeves are cut full and open where the inseam normally would be.

Sizing: No size is indicated, and although this should fit a large size, please note the following measurements for fit, taking into account the style of the garment, which should be loose fitting:

Shoulders:  16” across from one shoulder/sleeve seam to the other

Sleeves:  12” from the shoulder/sleeve seam

Bust:  46” around, taken under the arms

Waist: Full

Hips:  Full, meant to fall loosely in drapes

Length:  52” measured flat

Condition: It is in very good condition with no wear, tear, stains except for a black mark to the ribbon at the back (see last close-up photo) and wear to one of the ribbons hanging from the right sleeve.  This dressing gown has been well cared for over the years.

This is a very well kept example of Edwardian fashion - lovely lounging gown, beautiful piece!
