This is a wonderful pair of men’s black leather antique 1920s Balmoral boots aka Laced Derby boots. They have perforated strips at the toe box border. These 1920s Balmoral boots have sewn-in leather soles and a leather heel with old rubber cap. The interiors are lined in canvas - there are no insoles. There are no stampings on the interior of the shoes.
Sizing: No size in indicated on these 1920s Balmoral boots, but I’m calculating maybe a US size 9 to 9.5 narrow - please rely on the following measurements for fit:
Insoles: 10 5/8” in length from the tip of the toe to the back of the insole
Soles: 11 3/8” in length from the tip of the toe’s sew line to the back of the heel
Sole width: 3” at their widest between sew lines
Condition: The soles do demonstrate some evidence of use (see photo), in particular the rubber heel. The uppers are in quite nice condition with the exception of a bit of scuffing/scratching to the left boot as well as wear to the interior of both boots - these 1920s Balmoral boots would need insoles, as they are missing and there is wear to the leather vertical strip at the back of the right boot, which is slightly unstitched at the back (see last three photos). This is a wonderful example of a pair of standard men’s 1920s Balmoral boots dating to the 1920s / 30s….with a bit of work these will be great!
