Here is a rayon chiffon floral print dress by Junya Watanabe for Comme des Garcons. A most unusually designed dress...nothing is as it would normally be from the ragged edge collar to the ragged edge flounced hemline. The collar is deliberately sewn on higher on one side than the other as well as being larger on one side, back of it is cut and ragged. There are eight abalone buttons and these are also oddly placed at the top and the bottom, whereby making the dress hang blouson on one side only. The seams at the back are not straight and raggedy and there is an extra piece of fabric on one side at the back towards the bottom. The bottom of the dress also hangs longer to one side.
Label reads Junya Watanabe - Comme des Garcons - L - Made in Japan
The label reads Large - Please rely on the following measurements for fit, all given in inches. Keep in mind there is no stretch to the fabric and it is meant to flow over the body.
Overall length: 50
A little about the designer, he is renowned for his unusual design, very innovative and distinctive like his mentor Rei Kawakubo. He has worked at Comme des Garcons since 1993 under his own name. He started there in 1984 as a pattern maker and then moved up to designing the tricot wear line and then onto the Homme line.
Condition is very good, but as mentioned above it is from his deconstructed line so is very oddly finished.
This dress is a most unusual design, it's certainly quirky to say the least.
